Congratulations on your new Liberty office side chair! This sleek, ergonomic chair is designed to provide comfort and support in any workspace. Whether you're setting it up in a conference room, home office, or reception area, proper assembly is key to ensuring its longevity and your comfort. In this guide, we'll walk you through the entire process, from unboxing to final adjustments.
Before you begin, make sure you have a clean, flat surface with enough space to lay out all parts. You'll also need the included Allen wrench (or a Phillips head screwdriver, if preferred). The Liberty chair comes partially assembled to simplify the process, but you'll still need to attach the seat, backrest, armrests, and casters. Let's get started!
Step 1: Unbox and Identify Parts
Carefully open the box and remove all components. You should have: the seat cushion with gas lift cylinder attached, the backrest, two armrests (left and right), five casters, a five-star base, and a hardware bag containing screws and an Allen wrench. Lay everything out on a soft surface to avoid scratching.
Check the instruction manual for a parts diagram to confirm you have all pieces. If anything is missing, contact customer support immediately. Note that the gas lift cylinder is pre-installed on the seat, so you won't need to handle that separately.
- Keep screws organized by size to avoid confusion during assembly.
Step 2: Attach the Casters to the Base
Flip the five-star base upside down so the star points face upward. Insert one caster into each star point by pressing firmly until it clicks into place. You may need to apply some pressure, but avoid using a hammer as it could damage the casters. Ensure all five casters are fully seated and spin freely.
Once all casters are attached, flip the base right side up and set it aside. The base is now ready to support the chair.
Step 3: Install the Gas Lift Cylinder
The gas lift cylinder is already attached to the seat on the Liberty chair. However, if it came separate, insert the cylinder into the center hole of the base. Make sure the cylinder is oriented with the wider end down. It should fit snugly; if it's loose, the chair may wobble. Push down firmly to seat it.
Some models include a plastic cover that slides over the cylinder. If yours has one, slide it over the cylinder now for a cleaner look. Then place the seat assembly onto the base, aligning the cylinder with the hole in the seat mechanism.
- For extra stability, ensure the cylinder is straight before pushing down.
Step 4: Attach the Backrest
Locate the backrest and the two short screws from the hardware bag. Align the backrest bracket with the corresponding holes on the back of the seat frame. The backrest should curve inward to support your lower back. Insert the screws and tighten them using the Allen wrench. Do not overtighten, as this could strip the threads.
Once the backrest is secure, test its movement by gently pushing it forward and backward. It should recline slightly and return to the upright position. If it feels stuck, check that the screws are not too tight.
Step 5: Attach the Armrests
The armrests are labeled "L" and "R" on the underside. Identify the left and right armrests accordingly. Each armrest attaches to the side of the seat with two screws. Align the armrest bracket with the holes on the seat frame, then insert and tighten the screws. Repeat for the other side.
After both armrests are attached, check that they are at the same height and parallel to the floor. If your Liberty chair has adjustable armrests, you can adjust them later for optimal comfort. For now, ensure they are securely fastened.
- If the armrests feel loose, double-check that the screws are fully tightened.
Step 6: Final Assembly and Adjustments
With all parts attached, carefully flip the chair upright. Sit on it and test the height adjustment by pulling the lever under the seat. The chair should rise and lower smoothly. If it doesn't, check that the gas lift is properly seated. Also, test the tilt mechanism and backrest tension if your model includes those features.
Now is the time to make ergonomic adjustments. Adjust the seat height so your feet rest flat on the floor with your knees at a 90-degree angle. If needed, reposition the armrests so your elbows are at a 90-degree angle when typing. For added comfort, consider pairing your Liberty chair with an Adjustable Foot Rest to support your feet and improve circulation.

- Use the tilt lock to secure the chair in an upright position if you prefer a fixed angle.
Your Liberty office side chair is now fully assembled and ready for use. With its ergonomic design and easy adjustments, it will provide lasting comfort throughout your workday.
